Local Students
Hello to all local students and parents or caregivers! Thank you for inquiring
into Silver Star Adaptive Snow Sports (SSASS) at Silver Star Mountain Resort.
Please read the following information very carefully. SSASS is separate
from the Silver Star Snowsport School. We provide all lessons free of
charge to any student with a disability, provided they hold a current Disabled Skiers Association of British Columbia (DSABC) membership card and have completed the necessary forms for participation in
our programs. Students and parents are asked to help SSASS fundraise, or any donation would be greatly appreciated.
First and foremost, the person with the disability needs to want to ski or snowboard. This experience can be rewarding only if they want to participate.
All of our adaptive equipment and lessons are supplied at no charge, however any other equipment can be rented at Silver Star Ski Dazzle for half price with proof of
a current DSABC Membership card. All of our instructors are trained and certified through the Canadian
Association of Disabled Skiers (CADS).
Our local lessons are scheduled through the week, for a maximum of eight, two hour lessons from the middle of January to mid March. We will be scheduling a "Meet & Greet" Day in early January for all registered students to meet with their instructors. Please watch for more on this and other important dates in our "Lotsa SSASS" Newsletter.
How Much Does it Cost?
Below is a breakdown of the prices for participating in the SSASS lesson programs:

Where to go for Lessons:
SSASS begins and ends all lessons from the south-end entrance, lower level of the Silver Star National Altitude Training Centre (NATC). We encourage all students to be accompanied by their caregiver or parents and arrive at least 1/2 hour before the start of their lesson.
Lessons on weekend mornings begin at 9:30 am and end at 11:30 am; and the afternoon lessons run from 1 pm to 3 pm. Weekday lesson times are arranged by the volunteer coordinator and the students/caregivers on an individual basis. As needed, our instructors will greet and help students across the snow from the designated handicapped parking spaces in front of the NATC. All parents and caregivers are asked to be ready to pick up the students after the lesson.
