Out of Town Guests

Thank you for inquiring into Silver Star Adaptive Snow Sports (SSASS) at Silver Star Mountain Resort. SSASS is separate from the Silver Star Snowsport School. Our instructors are trained and certified through the Canadian Association of Disabled Skiers (CADS). Each season the following requirements must be fulfilled for any disabled guest to enjoy the beautiful Silver Star slopes with our organization.

First and foremost, the person with the disability needs to want to ski or snowboard. This experience can be rewarding only if they want to participate.

Each guest with a disability is required to be a current member of the Disabled Skiers Association of British Columbia (DSABC). This provides liability insurance coverage and is valid for one year at participating BC ski areas. Also please note, any caregiver guest wanting to "assist" a disabled guest on the snow, whether handling any of our equipment or not, must become a current member of DSABC as well. So with this in mind please follow the links and complete the forms provided in the "How to Register" section below.

How to Register:

Please click on the highlighted links below and mail or email the SSASS Student Information Forms to us as far in advance of your holiday as possible so we can make the necessary arrangements for instructors and equipment. As a minimum, we need to receive the completed forms 3 weeks before your arrival at Silver Star Resort.

(1) DSABC Membership: follow the links to complete your membership registration on line. A membership card will be issued by DSABC which also entitles that person to 1/2 price off lift tickets, and 1/2 price off at the rental shop if non-adaptive equipment is required. All SSASS adaptive equipment is free of charge.

(2) The following link connects to all of the student application forms: SSASS Student Application Forms. Please ensure the forms listed below are completed for each out of town guest.
  1. Student Application
  2. SSASS Student Medical Form
  3. Student Application Attachment "Out of Town"

Please Note: SSASS has a maximum student weight restriction policy in a sit-ski or bi-ski of 175 pounds, for two volunteer instructors to be able to lift the student onto a chairlift. This does not include the 40 pound weight of the equipment to be lifted as well.

Any visiting guests who are already a current member of CADS/DSABC and wish to use SSASS equipment must be accompanied by at least one of our members who will be in charge of the equipment usage. Any exception to this rule must be authorized by our president or his/her designate.
