The initial idea for creating an adaptive snow sports organization at SSMR was floated in the early 1990's when the resort hosted the 1992 National CIBC Disabled Ski Championships & Festival. Donna Carter, her daughter Daniella and friends were instrumental in the creation of the North Okanagan Disabled Skiers Association or NODSA which was the forerunner of SSASS.
NOSDA was officially created in 1994 with Donna as the first president, in 2002 our members voted to change our name to Silver Star Adaptive Snow Sports SSASS to better recognize the our location and the variety of snow sports supported by our organization.
